Brad Zigtema

I grew up hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. Also I learned to trap. I can remember as a young boy my dad took my brothers and I hunting. We all started carrying a BB gun, and then graduated to a 20 gauge. Eventually I began to use different guns and a bow. I then bought a boat and decoys, and everything else that is necessary to ignite my love for hunting deer and waterfowl.

Back in 1998, I shot my first Canadian goose. That was thrilling! My first deer I harvested in 2002, it was a button buck. Later that year in shotgun season I harvested my first mature whitetail, it was an 11 pointer. That was an EXCITING year and the beginning of many more.

The best thing about hunting and fishing is the enjoyment of being in God’s creation. Of course, it is always fun and exciting to bag something. But, as my dad taught us, we ought to just enjoy being outside more than the kill. Also, every day is different and every hunting story has a new adventure.

It is really fun to take new hunters out to experience the thrill of the whole outdoor adventure. Hopefully others will enjoy the moments that they also can share forever.
